I am a senior at the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelors in journalism and a minor in Spanish.
I am currently the Multimedia Editor for The Oklahoma Daily’s Web site, The Oklahoma Daily. I delegate multimedia stories to the multimedia reporters and also create my own.
I just finished an internship with CNN New York Business Updates, where I shot and produced a package that aired on cnnmoney.com, Urban Workout. During my internship I was responsible for making graphics, finding videos and having them cut, putting all the elements into iNews, and doing some research. I also shot multiple videos, located under my Videos tab.
News caught my attention in high school when I joined the school paper and became the Copy Editor. I fell in love with not only the job, but the people as well. I found myself staying in extra hours with no direct benefit to me at the time, like a grade, so it soon dawned on me I should pursue journalism as my career.
At school I am very involved in the student newspaper (print and web), The Oklahoma Daily, and the broadcast, OU Nightly News. I am also a member of the sorority Alpha Phi.
I have volunteered at OU Nightly News for three semesters and I have been an on-air reporter for the past two. During Spring 2009 I had my own weekly segment called Money Matters. I made my own packages each week for the segment by myself. I would come up with a story idea and executed it from beginning to end.
In fall 2009 I interned at KOCO Channel 5 News in Oklahoma City where I went on shoots, logged, interviewed individuals running for lawmaker, and learned how a local news station is run.
