Nice to meet you!

Jackie ClewsI graduated from the University of Oklahoma December 2010 with a bachelor’s in journalism and have since been involved in new media news.

I started reporting with text, photos, and video on the Wisconsin legislature for Wisconsin Reporter as a fellow, as well as leading social media strategies for the affiliated Statehouse bureaus. Click here to watch my TV News reel on YouTube.

After six months I transitioned to digital marketing strategist for their national brand, Franklin Center. Go to live.watchdog.org to see the comments left over from our live stream and live blog of the first 2012 presidential debate which I used Scribble to make possible (just like live.CNN.com). I also managed all of our digital ad campaigns for 2012.

At school, I held many leadership positions at the newspaper and newscast, such as multimedia editor and on-camera reporter, respectively. During the fall 2010 midterms I interviewed local candidates running for office live on the newscast every week, which I incorporated into an election blog. I also served as the president of OU’s chapter of Society of Professional Journalists. We held a panel discussion with seasoned reporters on covering elections and taught students how to create WordPress pages. Social media was used at both events and can be seen on our Facebook page and Twitter (#OUSPJ).

I interned with National Journal in D.C., CNN Business Updates in New York, and KOCO Channel 5 in Oklahoma City. While at National Journal, I had stories picked up the CATO Institute and Politico. At CNN I had a video published on CNNMoney.com I conceptualized, shot, and produced with another intern- Urban Workout.

On my free time I like to spend time with friends and family, exercise, travel, and read fiction.

Feel free to contact me with any questions!
